About the Performer

D. Chakravarthy, a Kuchipudi artist from Chennai, began his training at age 5 under Guru Shri S.P. Anand at Shri Ambikeshwara Nruthya Niketan. His passion led him to continue his studies under Smt. Srimayi Vempati at the Kuchipudi Art Academy, Chennai, where he has been learning for the past 7 years. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Kuchipudi from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad. Chakravarthy has performed at prestigious events like the Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Indian Dance Festival, Uday Shankar Festival, and Mandakranta Nrityotsav. He toured the U.S. in 2019, performing in Kuchipudi ballets by Padmabhushan Guru Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam. Recently, he has performed at Navapallava (2022), Bharatamuni Natyotsavalu, and Noopura Sangama, and played lead roles in dance dramas like Girija Kalyanam and Sampoorna Ramayana. In May 2023, he portrayed 'Shiva' in Descent of Ganga at Vasant Utsav in Chennai, and in June 2023, he received the title of Natyavikasa at Kalōpāsana in Hyderabad.
